Pretty Day Packs

Hey, y'all! Spring has sprung and these Texas days are absolutely beautiful! Thank you, Jesus!

I am a total sunshine person and thrive from it. I try to spend a little time outdoors everyday while the sun is shining and really soak it in. It does me good! I've always said that I am solar powered- when it's sunny, I'm raring to go; when it's gloomy, so am I.

I really try to do as much fun stuff with the babes as I can. I want them to remember having a good childhood and a momma who loved to spend time with them, not a mom who stayed on her phone and never looked up to see how high they can go on the swings.

I got a tote to keep in the back of my bus to hold all of our "pretty day stuff". So far, I have a frisbee, a ball, a tennis ball, baby powder (for getting sand off of skin), a quilt for picnics, and some snacks. That way, whenever we are out and about, we have our supplies!

This is what I leave in the back of my car at all times. Double stroller and bat bag never leave. Ignore all that dirt and grass. I have five kids, that's how we roll. There's never enough room for groceries. Can someone please invent a shelf for Suburbans? I'd really be grateful! I would prefer the kids to have healthier snack options besides chips and Capri Sun, but since I leave the snacks in the car for when we are on the go, my options are limited. On days when I know we will be having adventures, I pack us a picnic lunch with fresh fruit, cheese, yogurt, etc.

I encourage you to put together your own "pretty day pack" and enjoy the days with your little blessings. Maybe when you have some time to kill between appointments or when the kids get out of school and you don't want to have to drive home just to load the kids up and go back to town for practice or when you just need to get out and get some sunshine therapy! Why not let the kids do their homework at the picnic tables at the park and then let them run some energy off? It won't hurt. Here's a few things that you may want to add to yours:

•books - for reading the kids a story under a shade tree
•a towel - incase you decide to let the kids play in the stream at the park (let them, they're only little once)
•sunblock
•first aid kit - somebody always scrapes a knee
•baby wipes - for cleaning sweaty faces
•sun hat or umbrella for baby
•extra t-shirt for Mom - my kids always get me dirty
•sidewalk chalk
•coloring books & colored pencils -crayons may melt if left in the car.

What are you waiting for? Go gather your supplies, Momma! You won't regret it. Enjoy this day. It's a gift!
